Take time out

Taking time out on Leckhampton Hill

Every Friday Baxter (my dog) and I pop up the hill for a walk.

Even though I’m super busy and always have 101 things to do, our Friday walk is one of the most important things to me (and Baxter, the walk wears him out a little, he’s got a crazy amount of energy).

Our walks are always fun and gives me time out to reflect, this clears out the creative brain, so that I can fill it up with loads of new ideas when I get back to the studio.

So, even if you’re super busy, make sure you take time out to do something you love, even if it’s just to go take a walk.

Trusty branding advice

The foundation of brand is trust. Customers trust your brand when their expectations consistently meet or beat their expectations.

Pretty Peg – Robert Burns

It’s Robert Burns’ Birthday (so it says in my diary), so here’s a quick poem from the man himself.

As I gaed up by yon gate-end,
When day was waxin’ weary,
Wha did I meet come down the street,
But pretty Peg, my dearie!

Her air sae sweet, an’ shape complete,
Wi’ nae proportion wanting,
The Queen of Love did never move
Wi’ motion mair enchanting.

Wi’ linked hands we took the sands,
Adown yon winding river;
Oh, that sweet hour and shady bower,
Forget it shall I never!

Will the Cadbury’s brand suffer now the Americans have moved in?

cadbury-cheesestring

Since the announcement yesterday about Kraft taking over Cadbury’s, will their brand and sales suffer?

American’s are not renowned for making amazing chocolate, in-fact American chocolate pales in comparison to British and European chocolate. Now that American owned brand, Kraft have taken over Cadbury’s, it will be interesting to see if the British public still warm to Cadbury’s now that the Britishness has been sucked out of it?

Also, with the announcement of British job losses I’m sure Cadbury’s fans will lose faith and trust in one of Britain’s most iconic brands which has built up an amazing reputation over the past 200 years.

I’m sure great-great-grandad Cadbury is spinning in his grave at the thought of Dairy Milks made from plastic cheese!

Brand workshops

brandWorkshop

“Today’s real competition doesn’t come from other organisations but from the extreme clutter of the marketplace.”

With this in mind we’re now offering brand workshops to organisations who need to develop their businesses and grow their brands.

Updated portfolio

portfolio

After much deliberation to decide how best to show some of our work, we’ve finally updated our portfolio section on the Jealous website.

It’s always tricky displaying design work because we’ve done so much. The temptation is to show everything but the page would be ram packed and the work wouldn’t get the breathing space it deserves.

So, as you’ll see we’ve taken a simple approach and have displayed highlights of our work from 2008 – 2010.

Digital Creativity

Jealous Design, digital creativity

We’re going into 2010 with a new way of doing things. We’ve been brainstorming and bashing out loads of ideas to differentiate ourselves from other design agencies who seem to have adopted a jack-of-all trades approach.

So, with our new mission and strap line in place we’re going to be focusing purely on digital brands & marketing, e.g. websites, e-commerce, social marketing, online branding to help our clients old and new to reach an online audience from all angles.

Our mission:

“We’re a design agency who specialise in digital creativity for brands who want to reach an audience online.”

Our Strap line:

“Digital Creativity”
